Each spring and summer the Foundation supports free bike helmet fitting events at various locations across the state. It's estimated that more than 5,000 children in Nebraska have been properly fitted with protective head gear through this effort. Visit our events page for an updated list of scheduled events.

Did you know?
  • About 700 bicyclists are killed each year in the U.S. Nearly all of these deaths result from crashes with motor vehicles.

  • 85 percent of all head or brain injuries could be avoided if cyclists wore bicycle helmets correctly.

  • 85 percent of all bicycle crashes occur within five blocks of home.

  • Nearly half of all bicycle crashes occur off the road, in driveways and on sidewalks.

  • 90 percent of all deaths to children on bicycles occur when they dart into traffic from a driveway or when they cycle through a stop sign.

  • There is no cure for brain injury. A blow to the head can change your life forever.

  • Parents and other adults are the best role models, so wear a helmet properly and follow the rules of the road.
